WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC?

Chiropractic is a drugless, holistic profession that focuses primarily on treatment of the spine and nervous system. It is based on the idea that your body was created with everything it needs to deal with your environment and everything in it. Chiropractors generally believe that the human body is capable of overcoming any disease and/or condition that may occur, if the nervous system and immune systems are functioning at optimal levels. It is only when one or both of these systems are not fully healthy that you feel pain, numbness, get sick, develop symptoms of disease, etc.

I do not believe you have a headache because your body is low on aspirin. I believe that pain is a warning signal. It is your body's way of telling you that something is wrong.

If the warning light comes on in your car, there are two ways to deal with the problem. You can pull over, find out what's causing the problem and fix it. Or you can climb under the dash and snip the wires to the "CHECK ENGINE" light. Either way, you've gotten rid of that annoying light. But obviously, the first way is the best and safest way to handle the situation.

Most drugs are designed to address symptoms, not causes of disease. Taking pain killers for example, will turn off the warning light, but the problem still exists. Chiropractors use symptoms as clues to identify the cause, but don't specifically treat the symptoms. We would rather fix the cause and let the symptoms resolve on their own.
